System Benefits

The Windows-based OFA system helps correctional operations realize several benefits including the following:

Increase Accuracy and Information Timeliness

The system automatically updates all records associated with a particular type of transaction, thereby eliminating the common problem of users forgetting to fully update all their records. It also automates the complex calculations associated with determining collections for court-ordered obligations, making them error-free, faster to complete, consistently implemented and therefore increases total collections.

Reduce Personnel Resources Required
Extensive use of customized automation routines reduces the amount of human resources required to accomplish offender and trust account management tasks.

Increase Accessibility to Useful Information
The system’s database was specifically designed for corrections to allow detailed analysis of offender transactional history from any perspective (e.g., date, location, organization, offender, item, etc). There are numerous reports, as well as the flexibility to perform customized queries and create reports using third party business intelligence software.

ATG has developed a special transactional message-queuing technology to consolidate data. This technology allows DOC to implement servers at individual sites, and still enjoy the benefit of a consolidated database.

Reduce Number of Checks Written and Reconciled
By consolidating payments made by multiple offenders to the same payee (e.g., clerks of county courts), the system dramatically reduces the number of checks written, saving time writing and reconciling checks. For each such check, it automatically prints a detailed roster of transactions that make up the check amount.

Reduce Time to Implement Regulatory Changes
Its unique modular design, allows changes to be made quickly and easily to ensure compliance with regulatory or operationally driven changes.

Increase Defensibility Against Lawsuits
With the implementation of OFA the correction organization can optionally enforce identical automated and auditable system in every institution, jail and community-based facility. This increases defensibility of any offender lawsuit alleging disparate and/or inappropriate financial processes and procedures between facilities.

Scalability
The architecture provides scalability for a wide range of implementations. Whether used in a small single-location correctional facility or the entire Federal Bureau of Prisons with correctional facilities, complexes, and offices located across the country, OFA can scale to fit the size and the budget.
